Tom wanted to put an end to any rumors about Soccer Source.  He advised that any discussion at the Board meetings, unless voted upon, is not policy.  Everyone has opinions, but if you have any problems, please contact Tom Vater to verify the situation and stated facts.

COMMITTEES:

Registration - Don Snyder reported we were down to 442 players registered for flights because 6 boys withdrew from Flight 5.

Communications – Donna Orsini created the booklet and distributed it a Community Day and some flights.  She is looking for feedback on the booklets.  She send out the last 3 months of newsletters and Jim Huber advised they were published on the website (www.bpsoccer.org).

PR/Fundraising –  Picture Day for Flight 4 & 5 was 9/8.  Travel picture day will be 9/16 at Park Avenue field and on the Community Center porch if it rains. Flight 1,2 and 3 picture day will be 9/15.  Jim Huber thanked all the volunteers and travel coaches who solicited the volunteers for another successful Community Day. Tom Vater advised that BPSA made $366 in the meatball hoagie sales and another $600 in clothing sales.  He thanked Jim Huber for putting it all together.

Player/Coach Development – Bill Wolf advised there were 83 kids that attended the MLS training camp in August for a total of $2,010 donations. There were another 20 kids who attended another camp for $150 in donations.  Bob Monte asked if we can hold another camp in 2008.  Tom Vater advised we must qualify for the MLS camps.  Bill Wolf thank the people who housed the 4 MLS coaches for the week of the MLS training camp.  Jim Huber and Matt Yee advised they are having skill stations for the Flight 4 boys to teach all Flight 4 the same skills.  The coaches run 3 different skills on each of the 3 fields.  The first week seemed to work out well. They will keep the board updated on the progress of this new program.

Flights –  Flights 1, 2 and 3 went well on Community Day as well as week 1.  Flight 5 girls need a new net.  Tom Vater advised a net was ordered and should be there next week.  Flight 1 needs 1 net fixed.  Tom Vater advised it was fixed with PCV pipes because they unsure if the parts are available because the net are no longer available.  It was not in the 2007 budget to get new nets for Village Green.  Matt Scott advised he is working on a solution for the Flight 5 boys.  He said he is working with Michele Friday to blend the flight 5 boys into Flight 4 boys.  Only 5 of the Flight 5 boys are not on a travel team.  There were two thoughts on how to integrate the Flight 5 boys 1. place them on a permanent team  or  2. place the players on teams each week as needed for which players show up.  Bob Monte put forth the motion to place them on a permanent team.   Bill Wolf 2nd the motion.  The motion passed 8 -1.  Jim Huber, a Flight 4 boys coach, will work with Michele Friday to integrate the Flight 5 boys into Flight 4.

Travel Commissioner  & Registrar – Tom Vater advised that travel coaches will need new cards for each session next season.

Referees – Ed Emmitt asked how to pay the referees. Tom Vater advised Jim Rhoades will get that out to the coaches.  There will be a referee re-certification class on 11/7 per Tom Vater.  Flight 3 referees have asked that the coaches please stay off the field.  The commissioner will be asked to help enforce this request.  Brian Georges put in the request that the Flight referees blow the whistle louder because the kids are not stopping play.

Fields – No updates.

Equipment – Tony Bruno advised all the Flight shirts are out and there is only one he needs another size.  Also, the travel shirts are all out.  Tony believes there must be a better way to get the shirt back from the previous session to get them to the next session.  Some shirts had to be replaced.  Tony suggested to raise the travel cost to cover the cost of the shirts.  Tom advised the board was not prepared to discuss this topic at this evening's meeting.

Community Liaison – No update.

Website - Jim Huber advised there have been emails about www.bethelparksoccer.org, which was the previous URL, has now been disabled.  We all should use www.bpsoccer.org to reach the website. The current URL, www.bpsoccer.org, has been renewed.  Jim Huber will work to continue to update the website as needed.  Don Snyder asked that only the Offices of BPSA be on the board@bpsoccer.org email address due to the emails being sent to the board from parents of players.  Jim Huber will look into updating the email address but advises he may need to create a new email address to get information to all board members.  Tony Bruno will provide the sponsor information to Jim Huber to be added to the website.

Player/Coach Appreciation - The coaches appreciation dinner will be scheduled for November 3rd, from 5:00 to 9:00 PM at the Bethel Park Community Center.  It was suggested to invite the sponsors to the dinner.  Tony Bruno will handle the sponsors.
