Board MeetingAugust 14,

Tom Vater, President of the Bethel Park Soccer Association (BPSA) called the meeting to order at 8:10PM in the Caucus Room of the Bethel Park Municipal Building. Also present were Jim Huber, Donna Orsini, Don Snyder, Tony Bruno, Matt Yee, Dave Conely, Tom Boss, Brian Georges, Bill Wolf, Bill Boehner and Scott Bradley.
Secretary’s Report: Jim Huber advised the minutes were posted on the website and he distributed at the meeting. The changes that were noted were updated on the website. There was a motion to pass the meeting minutes as posted by Dave Conely. Tony Bruno seconded the motion. The meeting minutes passed unanimously.
Treasurer’s Report: Tom Vater gave a balance of $15,071.04 in the absence of Jim Rhoades. Jim will be working on the financials to be presented to BPSA. Tom stated that Jim had found we were under budgeted for MLS fees. New goals and nets totaled $3,000. The referee fees were paid through 2007.
President’s Report:
Tom Vater attended the presidents meeting. There was discussion around
volunteer disclosures. PA West will try to have it online to get clearance.
COMMITTEES:
Registration - Don Snyder reported there were 448 players registered for flights. There were 192 registered for travel. 14 travel teams.
Communications – Donna Orsini is creating the Fall Booklets. She has asked for any suggestions and updates to the booklet. Donna requested the updated flight commissioner information for the booklet. Jim Huber request the same information to update the website. The booklet will be made available at the Community Day booth on 9/8. Donna is also completing the newsletter this month.
PR/Fundraising – Uniroyal/ Bruce Brothers will not be part of the soccer ball give away. Picture Day will be 9/15 for flights. Jim Huber asked if the sponsors would be invited to Picture Day. Tom Vater and Tony Bruno will decide. Travel picture day will be 9/16 at Park Avenue field. Jim Huber reported we have the same spot as last year. Jim asked Tom for the list travel coaches to solicit for volunteers to man the booth. Community Day will be Saturday September 8, 2007.
Player/Coach Development – Bill Wolf advised there are 33 players for the MLS training camp. Tom Vater said he has 24 to participate. There will be 4 MLS coaches available for the MLS Camp. Bill Wolf will advise on a Tuesday practice for Flights 3 & 4.
Flights – Flights 1, 2 and 3 are ready to go as planned. Flight 4may be at Ben Franklin again but needs to find a field for 9/22 due to a field conflict. Flight 5 girls will be at Neil again.
Travel Commissioner & Registrar – Tom Vater advised all 14 team are registered and the players are on the website. The coaches card are needed. 9/9 is the 1st day of travel. Ray Conway attended the Gold meeting but was not at this meeting to advise on it.
Referees – No assignments have been handed out yet.
Fields – Tom Boss advised he needs new nets and paint. The field schedule will be sent out. Tom asked he receive all practice requests to help to fill out the field schedule. It was noted that Robinson's travel team would like Tuesday and Thursday for the team practice.
Equipment – Tony Bruno says the shirts are ordered. The BPSA obtained 25 sponsors for the Fall & spring session. 12 of the 25 sponsors have logos. $3425 from sponsors for the flight shirts. The boxes from Dick's Sporting Goods. Dick's SG also provided coupons for all players to provide discounts on soccer equipment. Dick's SG will track how much BPSA uses the coupons. The coupon use may have an impact on future donations from Dick's Sporting Goods. Jim Huber suggested to get the coupons out to the coaches before they contact their players. BPSA will work on getting the coupons out at the MLS camp and prior to the start of Flights/Travel.
Community Liaison – No update.
Website - Jim Huber advised he updated the site with information as it came in. He apologized for not advising before he was away on vacation to the board, but the site was updated before the dates. Jim advised the daily site hits have increased in the last year and wants to continue to get the word out about bpsoccer.org.
Player/Coach Appreciation - The coaches appreciation dinner will be scheduled for November at the Bethel Park Community Center. It was suggested to invite the sponsors to the dinner.
Old Business – no old business.
New Business – Tom Vater ordered new Travel shirts from MLS. He ordered 30 jerseys. Tony Bruno motioned to adjourn the meeting, Scott Bradley 2nd the motion and the meeting ended at 9:29 PM.
