COMMITTEES:
Registration - Don advised the New Forms are out. They are on the website. Don asked if the Fall teams can be listed on the website. Jim advised he will look into posting this information once it is obtained. Don would like to get it out 1 - 2 weeks prior to the start of the Fall session.
Communications – Donna is working on the next newsletter and expects it out by Thursday April 12. It will be linked off of the main page of the website. Donna completed the pamphlet.
PR/Fundraising – Dan and Donna are working on the Kicks for Cancer. The hand-outs will be provided at flights this Saturday April 14 and travel on Sunday April 15. Dan is looking for prizes to the top collector in each flight 1 through 4. Dan is also looking to do a Relay for Life, American Cancer Society, at the high school stadium on June 2nd into June 3rd. He has prepared a letter to ask for permission from the Bethel Park Athletic Department. The Relay for Life is a separate program than Kicks For Cancer. Jim advised the Community Day meeting is April 26 at the Municipal Building and he will attend it.
Player/Coach Development – Flight 2 practice had 20 - 22 kids for the first session. Three high school players helped out. They had drills then played a game. Flight 4 had 7 kids for the first practice. Larry advised he has a coaching plan on how each flight should progress through out the session. Larry will provide Tom with the plan. Tom asked that he work with Bill on what Bill had already started.
Flights – Flight 1 will change times from 12:50 to 1:00 to accommodate the parking situation and give more time to set up the extra nets needed. The question was posed should we post signs to advise parents not to park in Best Buy parking lot? Donna to add this suggestion to the parent section of the BPSA pamphlet. Flight 4 did not have nets on the larger goals. The school may have taken them down. Don will ask Tom Boss if the nets can be placed back on the goals.
Travel Commissioner & Registrar – Tom said they will send out the rules for friendlies. This is how to borrow players to get subs when needed.
Referees – All refs showed up for flight and travel games. All slots have been filled. Any ref should notify Tom of any changes to the schedule.
Fields – The games in the stadium will be moved when the new track is put in during April or May.
Equipment – Tony needs 1 more shirt for Flight 5 girl (Sweden). Tony changed travel shirts for some teams as requested. Tony made his proposal to have sponsored flights. He is looking for a sponsor for each team from the list of potential sponsors he provided. Tony, also, created a standard letter to provide to potential sponsors and suggested to have a link to the sponsor's website. The sponsors would have to be secured by June / July to be ready for the fall session.
Community Liaison – No update.
Website - Jim updated all the changes requested through out the month. Donna asked the Flight 2 data be updated to a darker color on the main page. Jim received a letter from the parents of Emily Wagner asking for their daughters trophy because she did not get it. Tom asked Matt Scott to take care of the trophy. Jim asked Larry for his information to post on the website.
Player Appreciation - Travel player appreciation date could be June 2 with Dan Saffer at the HS field. The summer program needs volunteers, Matt Yee will organize. We are looking for HS kids to volunteer. This will be for Flights 1 - 3.
Old Business – We need to speak to Sue Novak for the girls team assistance.
New Business – Goalie clinic Sunday 4/15 at the HS South Gym. Parents are invited to attend. Coach Weimer to help. Thursday 4/12 the coach will train the coaches who will help train the players on 4/15.
Matt Scott presented a different way to register for soccer. He suggested a $30 late fee for anyone past the due date. It will be up to the flight commissioners to allow the kids in if the need is there to fill out any teams. Bob thinks the $30 was too steep. Matt says it will train the parents to register on time instead of waiting until right before the session begins. Bob says will should allow kids in to promote more players. Matt says he spoke to some of the flight commissioners and they were OK with the suggestion.
