BETHEL PARK SOCCER ASSOCIATION

Board Meeting – November 14, 2006

 

Tom Vater President of the Bethel Park Soccer Association (BPSA) called the meeting to order at 7:08 PM in the Caucus Room of the Bethel Park Municipal Building. Also present were Dave Conely, Jim Rhoades, Matt Scott, Bob Monte, Bill Harvey, Bill Wolf, Jim Huber, Jeff Hulbert, Donna Orsini, Jack Kun, Russ Spicuzza, and Ray Conway.

 

Secretary’s Report: The minutes were posted on the website and distributed at the meeting. There were some miner changes that were noted and will be corrected. Motion was made to approve the minutes by Bob Monte and seconded by Dave Conely. The motion passed unanimously.

                                                    

Treasurer’s Report: Jack Kun gave a balance in the checking and savings accounts of $19987.98. Jack Kun stated that we would be getting a final check from the recreation department for $13.300. Additional discussion followed regarding costs for Travel and Flight Soccer. Jack Kun stated that right now we are ok with our pricing.

 

President’s Report: 

·        Tom Vater noted that Don Snyder had been injured in an accident while visiting relatives out of town. The address at the hospital he is in is Lehigh Valley Hospital PO BOX 689 Allentown PA 18105. The board is wishing Don a speedy recovery.

·        Tom Vater and Matt Scott went to the MLS Meeting. Three things were discussed at the meeting. The first is that they realize that they have to be a better partner with us. They are also going with new leadership. Secondly they have selected a player development office to work with us and our needs. Third they discussed that they had no idea about our financial problem in the spring of 2006. When leaving the meeting there was a feeling that they did want to work with us and our program.

·        Donna  Orsini husband will be doing the kicks for cancer.

 

Committees:

 

Registration -

§         Tom Vater stated that the Registration form was on the Web Site.

§         82 Players for Travel and 113 Players for Flights are paid for the whole year.

 

Communications –

  • No Report

 

Referees –

  • Tom Vater stated that toward the end of the season the Referees did a better job of showing up for the games.
  • There was a Referee certification on November 9, 2006 and it went well.
  • There will be another training course set up in February 2007.

 

Travel Commissioner  & Registrar –

  • No Report.

 

PR/Fundraising –

  • Matt Scott reported that the Proceeds from Redford Photography were around $700.00 for the pictures.
  • Discussion followed regarding Picture Day.
  • Matt Scott will check with Bruce Brother’s on the ball giveaway.

 

Player/Coach Development –

  • Bill Wolfe discussed upcoming fall tournaments and will get a list together for the people to look into participating.
  • The Riverhounds will also have camps over the holidays

 

Flights –

  • Bill Harvey discussed that the weather was bad on the last couple of weeks.
  • Commissioners will get together before the Spring 07 season. Bill felt that the same commissioners would be available for the spring session.
  • Bill Harvey stated that we should have the summer session this year. 

 

Fields –

  • Tom Vater reported that grass was growing on Millennium Field.
  • The Park Avenue field looked to be in bad shape.

         

Equipment –

  • Jack Kun informed the board that the company we ordered shirts from was having financial difficulties and that they would be sending out shirts in January 07.
  • There was some discussion on selling Travel shirts for a fee.
  • Tom Boss will check on the need for a net at Neal Armstrong School. Also we may replace a net at Village Green.

 

Community Liaison

  • Russ talked to Wall Mart about applying for grant money and he will keep the board updated.

 

Website -

  • Jim Huber reported that the Spring 07 registration form is now on the Web Site.
  • A suggestion was made that we congratulate the High School soccer teams on there great season and playoff run on the Web Site.

 

Old Business

  • Tom Vater wanted to thank Jack Kun for his hard work on the Coaches Appreciation dinner.
  • An exception was made to refund a parent for the Spring 07 session. The motion was made by Bob Monte and seconded by Bill Harvey. It was approved by all board members and passed. The parent will receive $30.00 which is with the $15.00 fee removed.

 


 

 

 

New Business –

  • Tom Vater made a motion that we discuss spending $ 1800.00 to $3000.00 for bleachers at Millennium by the hillside. The area can fit about three sections.
  • Nominations were opened for the following people Jeff Holbert, Tony Bruno, Matt Scott, Donna Orsini, Matt Yee, JJ Zechany, Scott Bradley, and Bill Bochner. The nominations were approved by Russ Spicuzza and seconded by Bill Harvey motion passed.

 

Bill Harvey made a motion to adjourn the meeting and Russ Spicuzza seconded the motion. All were in favor and the meeting was adjourned at 842PM.

  • January 9, 2007 Board Meeting/ Planning Session for 2007.

  • March 25, 2007 First Travel Games
  • March 31, 2007 First Flight Games

 

Next Board meeting will be December 12, 2006, at 7:00PM in Caucus Room.
