BETHEL PARK SOCCER ASSOCIATION

Board Meeting – October 10, 2006

Tom Vater President of the Bethel Park Soccer Association (BPSA) called the meeting to order at 8:06 PM in the Caucus Room of the Bethel Park Municipal Building. Also present were Dave Conely, Jim Rhoades, Don Snyder, Matt Scott, Bob Monte, Bill Harvey, Ed Emmett, Jack Kun,  Russ Spicuzza, and Ray Conway.

 

Secretary’s Report: The minutes were posted on the website and distributed at the meeting. Motion was made to approve the minutes by Bob Monte and seconded by Jack Kun. The motion passed.

                                                    

Treasurer’s Report: Jack Kuhn gave a balance in the checking and savings accounts of $23,001.06. Jack Kun stated that we would be getting additional money from the Recreation Department.

 

President’s Report: 

·        Tom Vater wanted to thank everyone for there help with Flights this fall. He noted that the Flights are doing well.

·        The Pride Group is doing well with selling food at Village Green. They are making around $125.00 per week.

·        In the last month there has been two player appreciation days. They were October 2 for the girls and October 9, 2006 for the boys. Discussion followed.

·        Tom wanted to thank Paul Studt for his taking of pictures and posting them on his Web Site.

·        Tom wanted to thank Amy Williams the Athletic Director at Bethel Park for her help in having Player Appreciation Days.

 

Committees:

 

Registration -

§         Don Snyder stated that the registration form for Spring 07 soccer went to the registration office last week.

§         Key dates coming up are in person registration is January 17 7-830PM in Council Chambers. Also Early Bird registration is before February 1, 2007. Final Registration is Travel February 15, 2007 and for Flights is March 1, 2007.

§         Don Snyder will get Jim Huber the Registration form soon so he can post it on the Web Site. In the next three months the public will be getting notices about registration for soccer.

 

Communications –

  • Matt Scott reported that there were small problems with the pictures and that each coach should have gotten a 5x7 picture.
  • Deadline for the Uniroyal ball giveaway in at the end of October.

 

Referees –

  • Tom Vater acknowledged that there were problems with the scheduling of referees and that he would be addressing this issue this Saturday. In recent weeks there has been a shortage of referees at the flights and travel games.
  • There is certification training on November 9, 2006 at the high school from 6 to 9PM.
  • There will be another training course set up in February 2007.

 

 Travel Commissioner & Registrar –

  • Ray Conway reported that all teams will stay the same for the Spring 07 session.

 


 

PR/Fundraising –

  • As stated before the free ball giveaway at Bruce Brothers ends October 31, 2006.

 

Player/Coach Development –

  • There was considerable discussion on the use of indoor fields. The two fields discussed were Southpointe and Washington PA. It was also noted that the Riverhounds have indoor facilities.
  • In addition Shoot to Score has indoor training.

 

Flights –

  • Bill Harvey discussed that Flights were doing well and that the weekend of October 28, 2006 is the make up for the rain out.
  • There was discussion that no extra schedules were available for flight 1 coaches and players. Discussion followed.
  • Shawn Cunningham from PA West will meet with us to discuss Simon’s situation and Tom Vater will set up the meeting.

 

Fields –

  • No Report

         

Equipment –

  • The board will be checking on the back order on the coaches shirts.
  • Jack Kun will be getting adult mediums for Flight 5 girls.

 

Community Liaison

  • Elks shoot out went well.
  • There will be four or five players going to the Penn State tournament.

 

Website -

  • No Report

 

Old Business

  • There will be nominations next month for elections to the board. Possible names mentioned are Matt Yee, Tony Bruno, and Scott Bradley.
  • There will be a number of board members stepping down next year. They include Bill Harvey, Jack Kun, Ed Emmett, and Russ Spicuzza.

 


 

New Business –

  • The Coaches Appreciation Dinner will be November 3, 2006 at the Community Center.
  • Tom Vater will send out an e mail on the list of possible board members.

 

Ray Conway made a motion to adjourn the meeting and Dave Conley seconded the motion. All were in favor and the meeting was adjourned at 9 PM.
