BOARD MEETING 6/13/06
Tom Vater President of the Bethel Park Soccer Association
(BPSA) called the meeting to order at 8:15 PM in the Caucus Room of the Bethel Park Municipal Building. Also present were Dave Conely, Jim Rhoades, Don
Snyder, Matt Scott, Bob Monte, Bill Harvey, Ed Emmett, Russ Spicuzza, Jack Kun,
and Bill Wolf, Tom Boss, and Ray Conway.
Secretary’s Report: The minutes were posted on the website, and
distributed at the meeting. It was noted that there had been changes made to
the minutes and posted on the website. A motion was made to approve the minutes
as posted on the website by Russ Spicuzza and second by Dave Conely. Motion passed.
Treasurer’s Report: Jack Kuhn gave a balance in the accounts for
checking $26,858.78 and savings of $27891.81. There was discussion on the MLS bill which Jack Kun stated was at $10,300 currently. We had budgeted
for 6,600 for the season. More discussion followed to increase the amount
budgeted for this upcoming season.
President’s Report:

no report.
Committees:
Registration -
§
Don Snyder
reported that there were 164 players registered for travel and 254 players
registered for flights.
§
Flight
registration is continuing until August 3, 2006.
Communications –
- Don Snyder stated
that the booklet was out and there was discussion on whether to give the
booklet to Flight 1.
- Bill Wolf suggested
that we have a master list of Teams, Fields, and Flights.
Referees –
- Tom Vater noted that
information for the referee camp in California PA had been sent out to the
referees.
Travel Commissioner & Registrar –
- There was discussion
on how the travel team looked for U10 through U15.
- Tom Vater to get
update this week on traveling players registered. Additional discussion
followed.
- U11 Girls to have
two teams.
- U12 boys will be
arranged by Dan Saffer.
- U11 Girls will go to
two U12 B teams.
PR/Fundraising –
- The Riverhounds are
having a Bethel Park Day for discounted tickets on June
30, 2006.
- Matt Scott is
working on Picture Day to be done by Redford Photography.
Player/Coach Development –
- MLS Camp will be July 31st - August 4th
- Shoot to Score will
be June 19th – June 22nd.
- Riverhounds Camp
July 10th – July 13th at Village Green 9 AM – noon.
- Dave Conley stated
that player appreciation day on Memorial Day was a huge success. Dave
wanted to thank Jim Rhoades and his wife Maureen. In addition he wanted to
thank Bob Monte, and his wife. Also Bill Harvey, Matt Scott, Tom and Carol
Vater. Also Dave wanted to thank everybody else who helped with the day
and to the Riverhound for coming. Dave Conley would like to see more
involvement from the community to make it a bigger success next year.
Flights –
- Summer Camp flyers
have been sent out.
- Flights 1, 2, 3 will
have a summer session beginning June 13, 2006 to July 25, 2006. It will be on Tuesdays from 6PM to 730PM. The rainout day will be Thursday of
the rained out Tuesday session.
- Commissioner
Assignments are Flight 1 Kelly Mehalko, Flight 2 Matt Scott, Flight 3 Dave
Conley, Flight 4 Don Snyder, Flight 5 Tom Boss assistants Jim Rhoades, Tom
Page. Flight 5 has not been determined at this time.
Fields –
§
Some work was
started on Millennium Field.
§
Tom Boss stated
that Millennium was in terrible shape.
§
Tom Vater to
ask Bob Sugrarus about Millennium Field. If he does not get an answer we will
send a letter to the borough regarding our concerns about the field.
§
Park
Avenue will start on
concession stand after June 19, 2006.
Equipment –
- Ed Emitt to get a
count on equipment.
- Jack ordered more
flight shirts for upcoming season.
- There was a request
for pumps for the soccer balls
- Motion to buy shorts
was tabled until we get a price.
Community Liaison –
- Russ asked Tom Vater if we were going to donate
equipment. There was discussion to have the girl scouts help collect the
equipment.
- We will have to follow up with the lady
coordinating the collection of equipment.
Website -
- Changes were made to
minutes and posted on website.
- Referees information
will be sent out on website.
Old Business –
- There is no update on the purchasing of shorts
for the upcoming season.
New Business –
- Relay for life will be serving coffee and
donuts at the Flights games.
- Bethel Park bought four Portable Defibrillators, and need
people to be trained on how to use them. There will be an E Mail sent out
about the equipment.
Dave Conley made a motion
to adjourn the meeting and Jack Kun second the motion. All were in favor and
the meeting was adjourned at 940PM.
