BETHEL PARK SOCCER ASSOCIATION

Board Meeting – February 21, 2006

Tom Vater, President of the Bethel Park Soccer Association, (BPSA) called the meeting to order at 7:09 PM in the Caucus Room of the Bethel Park Municipal Building. Also present were Dave Conely, Jim Huber, Jack Kun, Jim Rhoades, Don Snyder, Tom Boss, Ray Conway, Stan Sbei and Bill Harvey.

Secretary’s Report: The minutes were posted on the website, and distributed at the meeting. Jim Huber motioned to accept the minutes, and Jack seconded. Motion passed.

Treasurer’s Report: Jack reported that our balance was $33,612.18. Jack mentioned that there was no money yet from the Spring Registration.

President’s Report:

§ Tom Vater and Ray Conway went to the Southwestern PA District meeting on January 18^th – Tom stated that Nick Pisciottano was elected President of the Southwest District and Russ Spicuzza was appointed to the Appeals Committee.

§ March 26^th Divisions B and C will start playing

§ March 5^th at 4pm Sections 2 and 3 will start playing

§ September 23, 2006 the America’s Cup will be played for flights at South Park Fair Grounds.

§ Referee’s camp in July.

§ Tom Vater went to the last school board meeting regarding the future of fields

§ Discussion on fields.

§ March 5^th is the scheduling meeting at California University.

Committees:

Registration - As of today’s date there are:

§ 352 kids registered for flights

§ 187 for travel (we lost about 25 to 30 kids for travel).

§ 3 players for U-11 and 6 or 7 for U-10.

§ We still have kids for ages 13 and 14 that are registered.

§ We lost about 20 players, but picked up 30 .

Communications - Nothing to report.

Referees –

Tom thanked Ed Emmitt for helping out with Referee training on February 18^th and February 19^th. 40 kids were certified to be referees.
There are 2 rule changes: 1.) Players have to have 2 meters around them on throw-ins. 2.) A substitution can occur on any restart of the game.

Travel Commissioner & Registrar – Ray Conway will be mailing information to kids registered to play on the Travel League.

PR/Fundraising - Dave Conely wants to go to the Riverhound game on May 5^th or 6^th or June 2^nd or 10^th. The boards preferred date is May 6^th, it will be voted on at March’s meeting.

Player/Coach Development – There will be a coaches training session on March 17th or March 24^th to be coordinated with MLS. Bill Harvey will coordinate the training and Tom Vater asked if we could get gym time.

Flights - There was discussion about a summer program which Bill Harvey would like to have on Tuesdays and make-ups on Thursdays if needed. (Flights 1 through 3). Bill will check into a possible flyer going out with the Fall Registration Form preferably the within the last 2 weeks of the Spring Session.

Fields – Nothing to Report.

§ Discussion was held about U10 and U11 being played and Ben Franklin and Neil Armstrong schools.

§ Discussion was held about Park Avenue Football Team to build grandstands for concessions.

Equipment – Jack reported that t-shirts and socks are on order.

Community Liaison –

Tom Vater mentioned that Russ wanted old equipment to be donated to Central America through a charity.
Jack suggested asking for donations to be put into a barrel at the field.
Discussion was held regarding the death of Katie Bach. Tom Vater motioned for a donation of $100 to be given to the Elks Club in her name, Jack seconded it – no objections.

Website -

Jim Huber and Mark Vescovi will meet about the web-site.
Mark ordered Microsoft Front Page for Jim.

Bill Harvey mentioned that the meeting be adjourned. Meeting adjourned at 7:55 pm by Tom Vater.

Next meeting will be March 14, 2006 at 7:00 pm in Caucus Room.
