Parents/Coaches Meeting – September 7
|
|
The monthly meeting of the Bethel Park Soccer Association (BPSA) was called to order at 8:00pm in the Council Room of the Bethel Park Municipal Building. Present were Terry Bove, Bill Harvey, Jack Kun, Russ Spicuzza, Tom Vater, Mark Vescovi, Theresa Vescovi.
Treasurer’s Report: Jack Kun advised of a current account balance of $35,597.05. Travel registration has been paid. PAWest flight registration still needs paid.
Coach/Player Development: Stan Sbei’s training sessions of “1000 soccer touches” is now completed. There will be a training session once per week for U-9 boys. It is hoped that this will generate interest among 9 year olds to also play travel next year. The program is to give U-9 players, coaches and parents some insight into development of skills and game awareness.
Registration: Terry Bove and Tom Vater advised that there were very few requests for exemptions to the registration deadline. The firm deadline has been very effective. Tom Vater advised of a two-tiered travel and flight spring registration deadline. Bill Harvey asked for more time between registration deadlines and flight commissioner notification.
PR/Fundraising: Forms are out to all flights for Uniroyal balls. The new information booklet was sent out to flights. Suggestion was made to add more information about the transition from flights to travel to cup soccer play. September 20-21 will be pictures weekend.
Referees: There is a recertification opportunity for referees at Upper St. Clair on November 15th from 9:00 to 1:00. A letter will be sent to all referees notifying them of the recent opportunity.
Website: Mark Vescovi advised that he removed COBWEB from all pages. He sent notices out concerning the meeting time change. Several emails came in and Mark forwarded them on to the appropriate board members. 15 new people registered on the site. Mark will send web travel page instructions to all travel coaches so that they can place their schedule online.
Equipment. The new uniforms look great, but a significant problem occurred while numbering the jerseys. The numbers were placed too low on the shirts. When they are tucked in, you can not clearly see the number. The company who numbered the shirts has agreed to reimburse the Association for all shirts. We will place a new jersey order in January. The “old” jerseys will be donated to Top Soccer.
Flights: Bill Harvey advised of a good start to flights for the fall season.
Travel: Please check website for updated lists of current travel teams and coaches. If any coach has a question on how to update their schedules on the website, please send Mark Vescovi an email at mvescovi@adelphia.net.
Fields: Terry Bove said that Park Avenue looks really good right now due to the reseeding and break from all sports. Millennium also looks pretty good. Ben Franklin is a muddy mess. Flight 4 had difficulty playing on the first week.
Community Day: Community Day will take place this Saturday, September 13th. Anyone interested in helping out, please contact Theresa Vescovi for information at 833-8219. Come for the games, food, prizes and fun for all at the Soccer Association Booth during Community Day!
Monthly Meeting: The next Bethel Park Soccer Association meeting will be held at 8:00 PM on October 14, 2003, at the Municipal Building. EVERYONE IS WELCOME AND ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND THE MEETINGS.
Upon motion made and seconded, the meeting was adjourned.
Respectfully Submitted,
Theresa Vescovi
