Playing history:

Soccer has been a big part of my life since I could walk & talk, I started to watch my
local team: Chelsea Soccer Club in London when aged 9, and tried to copy a player
called Peter Osgood; he played as centre forward/Striker.
I joined the Chelsea boys team aged 10 and tried to play as striker as much as possible
to score goals, and scored quite a few. I also played for my school team, St
Margaret’s school in Roehampton, London.
I then moved to Chelsea boy’s high school and continued to play as striker.
I then started senior soccer with “Sands End soccer club” aged 14, starting as striker,
but then was moved around midfield and defense.
I moved to Leeds when aged 17 and was employed by the Post office, they had a
“works” team, and they gave you time off to play soccer on a Wednesday afternoon.
I was then asked to play for a team on a Saturday for Hunslet Working men’s club,
and was spotted by a scout to play on a Sunday for Beeston Soccer club, all the clubs
were amateur level.
Currently a member of Bethel Park over 40’s soccer team and Pittsburgh Greyhounds
over 50’s soccer team.
I started coaching in 1990 as Head Coach to my son’s school team of under 9’s,
which quickly became 3 teams!
I also run a men’s 5-a-side indoor team. When my sons went to high school I took
over the local Sunday team for my sons until moving to America in 1998. I moved
back to London in 1999 and decided to take my coaching badges.
I helped coach my work colleagues girls under 10’s team that finished 2nd in the
league, but won the Surrey County Cup at their first attempt in 2006, the team is
called “Hamsey Wildcats” and are in the final again in April 2007.
I was asked to coach pre-season training with Netherne Falcons under 9’s boy’s team,
and they have just finished as champions with a game to spare.
I was also asked to manage and coach a Ladies team in April 2006 called Corinthian
Casuals Ladies 1st X1 after the team split at the end of the 2005/6 season.
I managed to sign quite a few young players to join the team, winning the division
with an unbeaten season for the first time in their history.
I was given the opportunity to coach at Bethel Park Soccer association through MLS
Camps and I have been received very warmly by the people of Bethel Park and hope
to help coach the National players of the future.
I have also guest coached at “Kirkwood Soccer club” at their Christmas soccer camp
2006 & 2007. Previously, Director of Coaching at Bethel Park Soccer Association, Head Coach at Chartiers Valley Middle Girls school soccer and Head Coach at STM U14 Girls cup soccer team.

Currently, Coach Shaw is the Assistant Varsity Coach for Bethel Park Girls High School team and provides training support as an independant contractor of the Bethel Park Soccer Association.
